Newmarket Move

18/04/2008
Finally after endless trips up and down the M25/M11 over the last few months we have decided to sign a lease at Cadland House Stables.  It is owned by Mick Ryan who trained the Famous Katies and Royal Heroine not to mention Sweetnessherself who is the dam of Jagger. Cadland House is named after a horse who managed to win the Derby twice on the same day in 1828.  He dead heated the first time and obviously improved for the run because he won the rematch quite well.  He also won the 2000 Guineas. I believe Michael Stoute has used the yard and most recently Peter Chapple Hyam has occupied the stables very successfully.  The yard is located at the bottom of the famous Warren Hill gallops.  There are 64 stables built in the traditional styled yard with offices and feed /tack rooms on site. The Warren Hill gallops are regarded as the finest in the world and their variety will be a huge asset to us.  It is really an exciting venture and we are all really looking forward to this new chapter.  We will have a World class facility plus the use of the best jockeys in the business.  I firmly believe that this will have a huge positive effect on our training operation.  We will introduce a new training fee of £48 per day which I understand is lower than most of our ''exalted'' neighbours.  There will be the usual charges for vet and farriery but this will be at cost price.  There is the Newmarket Heath tax to pay for the use of the gallops.  This is organised with Weatherbys and is done through your account with them.  The charge is around £90 per month but will vary according to the individual training requirements. I am very pleased to say that all our clients are coming.  The vast majority of our staff will also be coming too. The transition will be made as smooth as possible.  I will bare the costs of moving the horses to Newmarket.  I look forward to welcoming everybody to our new set up. We will plan to have an official opening during the Newmarket July meeting but I am sure I will see most of you before then. Please give me a call if you have any questions or queries.
