John Smiths Steward Cup
21/08/2006Bayeux ended our cold spell when winning the John Smith’s Steward Cup at Hamilton. This was a very competitive race and he came off a strong pace to win comfortably under Nicky Mackay. The International Stakes at Ascot next weekend is a possibility which will be discussed with his owner.
Forgery put in another tremendous effort when finishing fourth in the John Smith’s Cup at York. He was last coming in to the straight after being drawn 16 but got a dream run through on the rails. We feel that he deserves a nice long break now and his ultimate goal will be the Cambridgeshire. Whether he runs before then will be decided by the ground more than anything else.
Unfortunately Bonus has had a further set back and after speaking with all his owners, it has been decided the best thing for him is a nice long holiday! He will come back in to training with the Dubai Carnival in mind.
Tomorrow we have 6 runners between 3 meetings. Beauchamp Pilot and Diktatorial take each other on in the mile handicap at Newbury. Ringsider and Best Double head to Ripon and Penang Cinta and Shamila round up the day at Lingfield.
