Beauchamp Viceroy
21/08/2006Last week started off with a winner from Beauchamp Viceroy at Wolverhampton. He was ridden by Frankie Dettori and won going away from the rest of the field. Newmarket could be his next appointment where he has been entered in a 6 furlong nursery handicap on Saturday.
Malakiya had his first race of the week at Beverley on Wednesday. He was last turning in to the home straight and flew past the rest of the field to finish 3 rd under Kerrin McEvoy. He was beaten a length and a neck. His second race of the week was at Goodwood on Saturday night. He ran in his same style and finished 4 th , just finding the ground a bit too fast.
On Saturday, we had three runners at Newbury and three at Goodwood. Traditionalist finished 5 th in the first division of the two year old maiden over 7 furlongs at Newbury. It appears to have been quite a good maiden and Nicky Mackay was more than happy with this introduction. King Joshua ran in the second division of the 7 furlong maiden and finished 5 th . He was ridden by Frankie Dettori who thought that the ground was perhaps too soft for him but still thought he ran encouragingly.
Oscillator was our third runner at Newbury. He ran well but travelled quite freshly during the race and was a bit rusty when they picked up. We will apply different tactics next time together with a step up in trip.
Diktatorial finished off the week when he finished 4 th in the Lady Riders' Derby at Bath. This was his first run beyond 1 mile 2 furlongs and he got the trip well. He wasn't beaten far and he is continuing to please us.
Today we declared Nimra for a fillies maiden at Kempton on Wednesday night and an Indian Ridge two year old colt, Zayyir, for a 6 furlong maiden at York. They have both been pleasing in their work at home.
We have a number of entries for the week ahead and Nayyir has been confirmed for the Celebration Mile at Goodwood on Sunday.
