Zaina ready for second start

10/02/2012

Winter has finally arrived, and it means business! Fortunately for us it hasn’t disrupted our daily training routine and we have somehow manage to continue on almost as normal although there were a few wide eyed horses about on Monday morning! It was all too much for me so I have taken myself and my family off to Brazil to look at some horses and maybe squeeze in a bit of surfing!

Tomorrow we have 2 runners at Wolverhampton. Zaina will be making her 2nd start after her impressive debut back in December. She had a few weeks on the easy list after that run and she has really grown and matured over the last couple of months. We will be facing very tough competition from the Mark Johnston trained filly Parley, but we are in good shape going into the race hopefully we can give Parley something to think about.
Zain Princess will be our second runner of the evening running for the first time in the colours of Darren Hudson-Wood, her new owner. Darren joined our team here at Egerton a couple of months ago and we are really looking forward to his first runner for us. Zain Princess had a few issues last year and didn’t build on her promising debut when trailing in last in her second and last start of last year. With a bit of TLC and a lot of rest we are confident we have her back fighting fit. We are starting her off in a low calibre race tomorrow to see where we stand and we hope to see her running well. The trip and surface will suit her well so we will just have to wait and see how she fairs.

Back off to Wolverhampton again on Monday where Dubai Bounty will be taking place in a 0-80 handicap over an extended 1m1f. She won very well over this course and distance last time out and went up 5lbs in the handicap for her efforts. As always, she has been wrapped up in cotton wool since the race and is in very good form. Nicky Mackay will be back on board and hopefully he can continue their winning run.
