Zaina makes an impressive debut
03/12/2011
We had 2 runners this week and we were very pleased with both of them.
Dubai Bounty kicked off proceedings at Lingfield over 1m4f. She had an issue with her breathing in her last run which we have rectified since. The race was not really run to suit us and although she finished in 8th place, she was only beaten 2 lengths. The pace was on the slow side and she ended up being shuffled back and had to switch to the outside. She came home very strongly but unfortunately, the line came a few strides too soon. She came home in good order and has had the rest of this week on the easy list before going back into full work again next week. We have entered her into a similar race at Wolverhampton next Friday.
Zaina was our second runner. Although she has always been mentally forward, her body has had a tough time keeping up so we have been waiting for her to gain as much strength as possible before running her. We were hoping for an encouraging run and would have been happy if she finished in the first 5 so we were delighted when she came rattling home to be 2nd beaten under a length. There may be a case to say that had she not have been forced wide, she could have won. But hind sight is always a wonderful thing and we are happy with the result. She will make a lovely 3 year old next year when her body catches up with her mind.
