YARD STAR DANSANT EARNS BREAK
03/04/2009
It may have been the first day of the Flat turf season last Saturday, but our focus was on the all-weather at Kempton. Following his participation in the Santa Anita Handicap, DANSANT was back in action in the Magnolia Stakes, a Listed race over 1m2F, with Eddie Ahern in the saddle.
As expected KANDIDATE made the running and for much of the race was in control steadying the pace, but Eddie was always on his heels and allowed DANSANT to show his class as he rounded the long time leader in the final furlong, staying on to win by half a length.
DANSANT has been the stable star this winter and has earned a break from the track but Gerard and his owner Mrs Barbara Keller are already planning an Autumn campaign for this all-weather star, with their eyes on the September Stakes at Kempton and the Breeders Cup Marathon, which will be run for a consecutive year at Santa Anita.
Tonight JUST LIKE SILK will make an appearance on the all-weather at Dundalk in the Blackrock Handicap over 1m2F. This will be a tougher assignment for him and although he lacks the experience in this type of race, he has a shown a lot of potential on his previous performances. He faces 8 runners, including Dermot Welds SIGNAL FIRE and horses owned by the Agha Khan. We have the services of Wayne Lordan in the saddle.
Tomorrow afternoon AGENTE PARMIGIANO is back in Listed action at Lingfield in the International Trial Stakes over a mile. Eddie Ahern has been booked to ride.
