SEPTEMBER HOT MONTH FOR GERARD BUTLER RACING

11/09/2009

It has been a great start to the month, with Gerard in the ‘Hot Trainers’ list again in the Racing Post. We have had three winners and three horses placed from seven runners so far in September and we hope to continue our good run of form over the next few weeks.

Following STEF AND STELIO’s win at Wolverhampton last Thursday, on Friday ARTE VIVA made her debut under Kieren Fallon at Kempton in a seven furlong fillies conditions race. The Giant’s Causeway filly was asked to challenge two furlongs from home, running into second place but was unable to reach the winner EOLITH. However this was a good debut for the filly and we expect to see a lot more from her in the future.

Later on the same card, JADALEE was back in action on the all-weather partnered on this occasion by Darryll Holland, in a two mile, 0-70 handicap. JADALEE took them along at a good pace, stringing out the field and was six lengths clear until tiring in the final furlong, despite this he battled against GANDALF in the closing stages but was headed on the line.

We were back in action at Kempton on Saturday afternoon. TINAAR was having her first run on the all-weather, in a one mile three furlong, 0-85 handicap. Leading French rider Ioritz Mendizabal was in the saddle and gave her a beautiful ride, settling the filly in mid-division and steadily making progress in the final three furlongs, she was ridden hands and heels and eased past OVERTURN to take the race by three quarters of a length.

On Wednesday we had one runner at Doncaster, AGENTE PARMIGIANO who was running for Fawzi Nass in a seven furlong 0-100 handicap. Francis Norton was in the saddle for the first time and held AGENTE PARMIGIANO toward the rear of the field, he challenged two furlongs from home and had every chance but couldn’t match the winner AKHENATEN and was placed third.

At Epsom MONETARY FUND finally got off the mark in a one mile two furlong maiden. Neil Callan tracked the leading pair before challenging two furlongs from home and drawing clear inside the final furlong, winning comfortably by six lengths.

This afternoon SWISS CROSS has his second outing in a five furlong maiden at Sandown. Jim Crowley has been booked to ride. SWISS CROSS showed us ability on his first run in June and will hopefully run well.

JADALEE runs at Wolverhampton this evening, in a one mile six furlong 0-80 handicap. Kieren Fallon has been booked to ride and we hope JADALEE can maintain his form and build on his second place at Kempton last Friday.

Our only runner over the weekend is BEAUCHAMP VICEROY in a one mile, 0-85 handicap at Wolverhampton. Kieren Fallon takes over in the saddle tomorrow and we hope BEAUCHAMP VICEROY can emulate his success at the Wolverhampton in July, where he has always finished in the first three.

Gerard is heading out to the Keeneland Sales on Sunday as the sales season gets fully underway and we will keep you updated on any further news over the next few days.
