BAHARAH has returned from Leopardstown in good health, having run admirably in very wet conditions in the Matron Stakes last Sunday. She has come out of the race well and is being eased back into her regular routine.
Gerard returned from Keeneland today and we have two new yearlings for the yard, the first a filly by GIANTS CAUSEWAY a three parts sister to SHAMARDAL, purchased by Oliver St. Lawrence for $500,000 on behalf of Fawzi Nass. The second also a filly, again by GIANTS CAUSEWAY is a daughter of multiple Group 1 winner JEWEL PRINCESS, and was purchased for $200,000 for Michael Deegan. These certainly are two exciting prospects, and I am sure we will keep you updated with their progress through the winter.
With the yearling sales now well under way, the influx of sales catalogues to the office has certainly provided Gerard with some bed time reading! With the Tattersalls Sales in Ireland on 23-24 September, Goffs Million Sale on 29 September – 1 October, and then the Tattersalls yearling sales here in Newmarket throughout October.
Away from the sales, we have had another quiet week, with the weather playing havoc with the conditions throughout the country.
We have one runner tomorrow, FANTASY PRINCESS at Great Leighs in a one mile two furlong handicap. Louis Philippe Beuzlin is in the saddle. She ran well at Folkestone last time out, but meets a couple of interesting contenders tomorrow, but we are hoping for a good run.
Next week we have entries at Lingfield, Yarmouth, Kempton and Great Leighs. COMPTON FALCON has been entered at Yarmouth on Thursday, and should with better luck in running improve on his fourth place last night at Great Leighs. JAGGER is also entered at the same meeting. ADMIRAL ARRY and SEA SWELL have been entered for Lingfield on Tuesday and Great leighs on Thursday.
