Prince Alzain
26/11/2011
Prince Alzain proved what we knew all along last week when winning a hot maiden very comfortably from the car park stall. He settled beautifully towards the rear of the field and just as we had expected, his long stride helped him to effortless pass the majority of the field with ease. He has had an easy week this week to recuperate but has come out of the race in great shape. He was given a rating on 81 for his efforts and during the latter part of December will head off to Deauville to take part in a conditions race against other colts and geldings over 9f on the AWT. He has matured a great deal physically in between his last 2 races and has grown into a very professional young racehorse. The time between his win and Deauville is the perfect amount to get him in perfect shape for his next challenge. In the back of our minds lurks the possibility of getting him to Dubai. This all depends of course on how we get on in France.
Our other 4 runners last week all finished in the first 4 which we can't complain about.
Dissent ran off of his mark in a competitive handicap. He finished a good third and was perhaps caught out by inexperience which is not hard to understand with it only being his third run. He was very keen early on and his jockey had a bit of a job on his hands to settle him which may of used up a bit too much gas but he will learn to settle in time. He will be taking it easy over the next month or so and enjoying a relaxing break.
Full Bloom ran another solid race to finish 4th. The 1m2f track at Kempton has always proved a tricky one and she did end up being shuffled back into a less than ideal position. Nether the less she ran on strongly in the last 2 furlongs and came home in good order. We are sure she has another race in her so will keep her fresh and well until the ideal opportunity arises for her.
Hallmark Star ran another promising race to finish 3rd. He learnt a lot from the race, most importantly how to settle and come between horses. He has a lot of strength to gain over the winter to fill his large frame. He has been put away now for a rest with a rating of 79 to work from next year.
Nordic Quest ran a blinder. He finished 4th following a very strong finished run. He has been slow to come to hand this year and still has a lot of maturing to do. He has proven to be worth the patience we have shown him over the season and we are looking forward to watching him progress next year.
We have been lucky enough to secure a fair few yearlings. They have all now been broken and ridden away and the colts are up and cantering learning the ropes (and a few bad habits) from the master Jack Sullivan.
