peace and quiet
01/07/2011
It has been a very quiet week for us here at Egerton House Stables as the Boss has been on duty out in Chicago. Burj Alzain was due to run at Arlington this evening but has sustained a small knock to his joint that has left him on the bench. It is a very minor injury that will not hold him back for long.
There are plenty of opportunities around the corner for him, one being the USA Derby.
On this side of the pond, Quiz Mistress put in a much improved performance when finishing 2nd to inform Lexi’s Boy. She jumped out of the stalls very well and travelled strongly throughout the race. I don’t think she had the hardest of races and we have made a provisional entry for her at Kempton next Wednesday.
Prince Apollo will more than likely be heading to Pontefract on Tuesday to take his chance in a 1m2f handicap. We don’t think he quite stayed the trip over 1m4f last time out so will appreciated the drop back. He has been doing very well at home as always so I think we can expect to see a much better performance from him this time.
Rainy Champion also holds 2 entries on Tuesday (Wolverhampton & Pontefract). We will be aiming for Wolverhampton where young apprentice Kieran O’Neil is booked to take the ride and claim a valuable 5lbs off his back.
Cala Santnayi, Full Bloom and newcomer Zain Point all hold entries on Thursday in various parts of the country.
Cala Santnayi will be heading north to Doncaster where she may run in the 1m fillies handicap. We were very happy with how she ran in the Tattersalls Cup here at HQ. She held her own against very talented and experienced horses we thought she ran a nice race.
It will be Full Blooms first appearance since February as she has been recovering from a nasty injury she incurred during her last race. We are very glad to say that she has recovered very well and the time out has given her a chance to grow and mature physically. She may possibly want a slightly further distance than Thursday’s 1m1 ½ f but it is a very good starting point for her racing against other fillies of a similar calibre.
Zain Point is a very nice 2 year old colt we have here by Barathea. He goes very well at home and is very professional and we think 7f will be a nice gentle introduction for him.
