We had mixed success at Kempton on Wednesday night with MUFTARRES finishing sixth in a slowly run race over ten furlongs. Neil Callan was unable to challenge from his position in mid-division and things may have panned out differently if the race had been run to suit. The tight mile and a quarter track did not play to his strengths.

Later on the same card BEAUCHAMP XERXES was having his second run on the all weather in a one mile four furlong Listed event. We have had success in the ‘Floodlit Stakes’ in the past with DANSANT and this race has produced Group winners in the past. Partnered by Richard Hughes, BEAUCHAMP XERXES was held at the rear of the field before challenging three furlongs from home, he hit the front but the others outstayed him and he finished in third position. However the race was quite a messy affair which would not have suited BEAUCHAMP XERXES and we were pleased with his performance. He will now be aimed at the Churchill Stakes with a possible campaign in Dubai.

On Friday MOUNT HADLEY had his first run on the fibre sand at Southwell. He was partnered by Champion Apprentice Frederik Tylicki in this one mile handicap. MOUNT HADLEY was trapped out wide throughout, but was always travelling well, however when asked to challenge his run petered out and he finished in fourth place.

We didn’t have any runners over the weekend but we enjoyed the Breeders Cup action from Santa Anita on Friday and Saturday night. It was very pleasing to see Newmarket trained horses doing so well but ZENYETTAs performance stole the show, she was travelling so easy at the rear of the field and was perfectly positioned to take the Classic in style.

With the all weather season now under way, we have one runner at Kempton on Wednesday evening. PACHATTACK has her first run on the all weather in a one mile two furlongs conditions race. Franny Norton has been booked to ride and we are looking forward to her all weather debut.

We have no other runners this week but have made entries for SALADIN’S VOW, FANTASY PRINCESS, PRINCESS PIVOTAL and CONFIDE IN ME at Wolverhampton on Saturday evening.
