PACHATTACK declared for Wild Flower
27/11/2009
Our only runners of the week featured in the Listed Churchill Stakes at Lingfield last Saturday afternoon. We had declared two full brothers BEAUCHAMP XERXES and BEAUCHAMP VICEROY to run, with VICEROY and Jerry O’Dwyer acting as pacemaker to his younger brother, with Jamie Spencer in the saddle.
However VICEROY sprung a surprise, after setting a strong pace and gaining an uncontested lead, he was passed by Henry Cecils TRANQUIL TIGER in the final two furlongs. With BEAUCHAMP XERXES held at the rear of the field and out of contention, VICEROY battled to maintain his position but was passed by the classy PRESVIS who made a late run to finish second and SUITS ME who claimed third in the dying strides.
It was an unexpected result, but we were very proud of VICEROYS fourth place, especially in this company.
We have two runners at Kempton on Sunday afternoon, the first being CONFIDE IN ME in a one mile, 0-65 handicap. We hope that Richard Hughes can guide him to a win as this will be his last run for us, before he travels to John Akehurst in Epsom to begin his career over hurdles.
PACHATTACK returns to Listed company for the much anticipated Wild Flower Stakes over 12 furlongs. She has scored a hat trick of seconds in recent weeks and we hope she can go one better on Sunday with Richard Hughes in the saddle. PACHATTACK was unfortunate on her last outing at Kempton when she was bumped and lost her place. However she appeared to like the surface and all being well should find the winners enclosure on Sunday afternoon.
You will now be able to find us on Facebook – ‘Gerard Butler Racing’ and also on You Tube – www.youtube.com/GerButler where we will be regularly uploading videos of our yearlings and older horses in action. At this time we have some film of our yearlings trotting and cantering and also DANSANT as he continues his remedial training. We should be uploading some faster work in due course.
