Nayyir
21/02/2006
I was very pleased to say the least that Nayyir was back in the winning circle again. After all his heavy battles it seemed unimaginable that he had not won since 2003. He has come out of the race very well. He appears to have retained all of his considerable ability and taken the race well. The Dubai Duty Free race is now back on the cards. I shall make a decision towards the end of next week as to whether to take up the challenge or not.
I was very pleased with Bayeux on his first run for the stable. It certainly was a different experience for him having run over 1m 7furlongs on his previous start for Godolphin. I can assure you that he is no 1m 7f horse.
The weekend is looking quite busy with a large number of entries for this time of year at Lingfield on Saturday. The highlight will be the Winter Derby Trial where we have both Nayyir and Compton Bolter entered. It is highly unlikely that Nayyir will run again but we fully intend to run Compton Bolter. We have made an entry for Diktatorial who we bought at the Horses In Training sales from Andrew Balding's yard. I have been very pleased with his training over the last few months and will be keen to see how he goes on Saturday. We have also made an entry for Bayeux but will wait and see how the handicapper treats him after his run at the weekend before considering whether to run or not.
The report from Dubai is favourable. Jack Sullivan has come out of his race well and will now wait for the Godolphin Mile. This will give him enough time to get over his last big effort and we can now look forward to his next appearance.
