Maristar Strikes Again
02/08/2011
A strange story arose from the states over the weekend! Whist we were in preparations to run Akhmatova, the heavens opened and the turf track was deemed un-raceable. The race was switched to the polytrack which meant that Maristar was able to take part in the race. She was a “main track only” reserve and once the race switched to the AWT it left the door open for her to go through. 2 other runners were withdrawn which left a field of 4. Maristar went on to win and Akhmatova finished in third. The race was not run to suit her but I am adamant that she will come on in leaps and bounds for the race. Maristar won the race in fine style and we were delighted for her and the owners.
Zain Point ran a great race on Saturday to finished second behind the odds on favourite of Barry Hill’s. It was a massive improvement on his first run and we were very happy to see him striding out well to the line. He has come out of the race well and we would like to stick to the 5f distance with him.
Behlul is at Southwell and currently 6/4 favourite to win this evening’s maiden. He has matured a lot mentally since his debut run and has been crying out for the 1m trip. He will be a lot more on the ball and clued up this evening and we see no reason as to why he shouldn’t justify his favouritism.
