Making Good Use Of The Grass
Bint Alzain ran off her handicap mark of 70 on Firday and we were very pleased with her finishing a close third. She is still inexperienced and learning more with every race. We are sure she will come on again for that run and will hopefully be winning again before long.
We took advantage of the grass gallops again on Friday. First up the Flat gallop was Zain Princess, Little Black Book and Cala Santanyi. We were really pleased with all three of these horses. Zain Princess has been entered for a handicap at Wolverhampton on Friday which she looks in good shape for. Little Black Book and Cala Santanyi may well head to Doncaster at the start of the season. They worked over 7 furlongs and all galloped out very nicely together up the hill.
Next up was Star Date, Hallmark Star & Zaina. Again, we were very happy with them all, they all moved very nicely on the ground and joined up nicely together up the hill.
On Saturday we took Kesgrave, Getaway Car and our Dylan Thomas two year old to the grass. It was an educational experience for these two young horses as it was their first time on the grass. We are very pleased with how they are coming along. The other two year olds are not far behind them but these two colts are particularly forward.
Also on the grass was a nice Dalakhani Colt, a Footstepsinthesand filly and Zain Glory. They are all learning a lot at this stage of their careers and are taking the whole thing very well.
We had a bit of a curve ball last week as Jordan took a tumble and fractured her ankle! It is very unfortunate as she was all set to travel out tom America next week. Andrew will be taking her place now and going to the States earlier than planned to watch over Maristar. She is doing very well out in Florida and we have a very exciting schedule in store for her this year all being well.
