KEMPTON RUNNERS TO END SEASON WITH A BANG
03/11/2009
We have two runners at Kempton tomorrow evening, the first MUFTARRES is declared to run in a one mile two furlong handicap for horses rated 0-85. On paper this looks to be a competitive handicap and we are pleased to have Neil Callan in the saddle. MUFTARRES seems to have improved for the step up in trip and seems to like Kempton so fingers crossed he runs well.
BEAUCHAMP XERXES has his second run on the all weather at Kempton, in the Listed Floodlit Stakes and he will be partnered by Richard Hughes. Three of the six runners in the field are from the inform Godolphin stables, but BEAUCHAMP XERXES put up a strong performance in a conditions race at Kempton last month and is expected to do well tomorrow.
We have a good record in this race having won it on two occasions with DANSANT and I am hopeful that the step back up in trip will bring back further improvement and the horse seems to be doing very well mentally and physically at the moment.
Friday we head to Southwell with STEF AND STELIO and MOUNT HADLEY. This will be MOUNT HADLEY’S first run on this surface since his time in Dubai.
STEF AND STELIO has good form at Southwell, the step up in trip should be okay. We are still contemplating whether to run SALADIN’S VOW at Southwell or Wolverhampton, we have to make our decision tomorrow.
This will conclude our turf season as we have no runners at Doncaster on Saturday. I have been happy with a lot of the horses in particular during the second half of the season. Looking back it was quite a blow to lose BAHARAH so early on as we had huge expectations for her this year. However DANSANT did us proud at Santa Anita, Kempton and in particular Ascot.
We will have a more detailed synopsis of our season to follow shortly.
