Just Like Silk to kick start a busy weekend
11/06/2010
We are expecting to have a very busy weekend with 6 runners over the weekend!
Just Like Silk will kick start our campaign off in the Lady Amateur race at York tomorrow.
We know he likes the feminine touch as the last time he ran he won impressively over the same distance under another lady rider, so we are hoping that tomorrows jockey, Miss Phillipa Tutty will keep the trend going! He has been training well at home after having a quiet winter and we hope he will get the ball rolling for us!
In the very next race at York, Elliptical will be taking his place in the Ladbrooks.com, class 2 handicap.
He has freshened up nicely after running respectably at Goodwood last time out. We feel that he definitely has his “edge” back now and has been making light work of his recent trips to the Cambridge Road gallop. We are very excited to see how he performs tomorrow and are confident of a good run from him.
Hoping to complete the hattrick for Saturday will be Macanta who is making a sharp reappearance after her promising 2nd on Wednesday. Turning her attention the all weather for the first time and over the same trip, we are hopeful these factors will help to get her off the mark. We have been very pleased with how she is both mentally and physically handling her work and racing and we think she deserves to have a 1 next to her name!
Our line up on Sunday starts with two maiden fillies, Converre and Akhmatova, both starting their careers in a one mile race at Salisbury. Both of these girls have been progressing well over the last 6 weeks, and we have watched them gain confidence with every gallop. The next step for them is to build their experience on the track. As with all first time runners, they will benefit hugely from their first race and we are hoping that they have encouraging debuts.
Wrapping up proceeding for the weekend is Baibars up at Doncaster. We were all very impressed by his first run at Newmarket and no doubt he has come on for that run. Everything about tomorrow’s race looks to be in his favour, from the track to the distance and jockey. The head gear has been left in place as seemed to work well at Newmarket so I think if he can improve slightly from that performance we have a real shot at breaking his maiden tag.
