JAGGER RETIRES
06/08/2009
We are very sad to announce the retirement of JAGGER . He has been a loyal servant to his owners Chris & Ellie McFadden and will be greatly missed by everyone at Cadland Stables and I personally will be heartbroken when he leaves the yard for the last time. Unfortunately his age has caught up with him and he never quite recovered from an injury he sustained some time ago.

JAGGER was purchased as a yearling for 45,000gns, his career spanned seven years competing at the highest level. Winning on 5 occasions, with impressive performances at York, Ascot, and Chester and placing 9 times, with career earnings of £116,000. His top class performance in the Melrose Rated Stakes a 0-100 handicap at York, was followed by a strong victory in the Seabiscuit Stakes Showcase Handicap at Ascot getting the better of DISTINCTION, TRUST RULE and HAMBLEDEN, both times partnered by Eddie Ahern. JAGGER went on to find Listed success at Chester, displaying his class under Darryll Holland. Following his success as a three year old, JAGGER ventured ‘down under’ but as I said on his return “Jagger couldn’t handle the amber nectar, so he his back for a bit of warm beer”.

Following his return to England JAGGER continued to prove his consistency, with a win at Great Leighs but never competed again at the same level.
JAGGER will be re-homed by the Moorcroft Centre and I am sure he will have an enjoyable time ahead of him in his retirement from racing.
