JACK SULLIVAN
25/07/2005
I write this update on the eve of the Glorious Goodwood Festival where we intend to be well represented.
We start On Tuesday when JACK SULLIVAN runs in the Lennox Stakes. As you may know, we have won the race twice in the last 3 years with Nayyir. Though Jack Sullivan is quoted at 33/1, I don't think he will run like an outsider as I have been quite pleased with his training and I am sure he will give a good account of himself.
Wednesday is headed by NAYYIR in the Sussex Mile. He is drawn 1 of 12 which would not be the most advantageous of draws, but we will live with it. This has been his target ever since he finished 2nd in it last year. I am sure Soviet Song will be a tough nut to crack and I expect Proclomation will also be snapping at our heels.
We also run LEAGUE CHAMPION in the Vintage Stakes. I think he put up a good performance in his last start at Newbury. Jamie Spencer thought the ground was a little bit too firm for him and it seems that the ground has eased a bit for his run on Wednesday. We also have a 2 year old running in the Fillies Maiden. Historically it tends to be very hot and I will be pleased if this filly puts up a good show.
Thursday will be our busiest day with entries in all of the races, led by SUMORA in the King George Stakes, JAGGER in the Goodwood Cup, NATALIE JANE in the Lillie Langtry Stakes. They will be backed up with PRIME NUMBER in the Heritage Handicap, both EL REY DEL MAMBO and LOOKS COULD KILL in a the 7 furlong handicap. We also have PRINCE TUM TUM in a classified stakes and to top it off we have a very nice 2 year old filly called SHAMILA in a maiden.
On Friday we have HELM BANK in the ultra competitive Totesport Mile which is always one of the most hotly contested handicapsof the year. He seems to be in very good form and all being well he will get the lucky breaks and put up a good performance.
Finally Saturday will see us represented by TARFAH in the Nassau Stakes, with further entries for PRIME NUMBER and NUWARA ELIYA in the 1m 3f handicap. We have made entries for two promising 2 year olds by the names of WAR SWORD and MALAKIYA in the 7 furlong maiden. To cap off an interesting week we have COMPTON DRAKE to run in the 1m 1f Apprentice Handicap which we won last year with Ringsider.
We also have entries at Doncaster, Lingfield, Newmarket and Thirsk and we will sort out our running plans nearer to the end of the week.
All in all and exciting week ahead of us. All of the horses entered seem in very good form and with a bit of luck in running they should all give a good account of themselves.
