Hanshin Cup Hopefuls
13/05/2011
Dear All,
Our first week overseas has gone very smoothly.
All the horses travelled over very professionally, completed their 48 hour quarantine in New York and then crossed the country to arrive at Arlington Park last Sunday morning.
They spent their first couple of days familiarizing themselves with their new surroundings and had their first day cantering around the track on Wednesday. All went very well and they are now making good progress in their training regimes.
We have entered Akhmatova, Beauchamp Viceroy and Burj Alzain into the Hanshin Cup next Saturday, a grade 3 race worth $100,000. All three are on schedule to run in the race and will do their first piece of work on Tuesday. We are trying to source top local jockeys and will have 1 or 2 coming in to ride work next week.
I am flying out to Arlington on Monday to oversee the work on Tuesday and will be staying to saddle the runners on the 21st May.
On this side of the pond, Prince Apollo will be heading north on Sunday to run at Ripon in a smart looking handicap. We are very pleased with his progress over the last few months, and he has been gaining more and more confidence as time goes on. He has been performing consistently and we will be hoping for another good show from him.
We have made entries for Little Black Book, Rainy Champion and Countess Ellen next week. All 3 of these horses are knocking at the door and just waiting for the right opportunity to come along. We will access each of their races nearer the time before we make any decisions.
