Good Things To Come

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Claire and I am now Gerard’s secretary having taken over from Nicola who has decided to move on. I have been involved in horses from a young age, however, this is my first position as a racing secretary, so I am looking forward to this new challenge, especially with the upcoming move to Egerton House Stables. I am sure next year will be a very exciting time for us all.
Last Sunday, Pachattach ran a creditable 4th in the Wild Flower Listed Race at Kempton and was beaten by the classy Les Fazzani who finished 2nd behind Dansant in the same event last year. We were delighted with another good run from her and her racing post mark is at its highest yet.
Along with Pachattack, we also ran Confide In Me at Kempton last Sunday, who ran his typical style of race to finish 5th. Following this run, Confide In Me has now joined the John Akehurst team to begin his new career over hurdles. We wish him all the best of luck with this – and Confide In Me!
Our plans for Dubai are still pretty flexible, however, Distinctive Image will probably start off on the 28th January in a 90-105 Handicap over 2200m (1M2F+) . Good Again could also make her Carnival debut on this date in a 90-105 Handicap over 1900m (1M+) Beauchamp Xerxes could either go for round 1 of the Maktoum challenge or we could wait and go for one of the more valuable handicaps which occur quite frequently throughout the carnival. We plan to fly out on the 8th January and all being well, we will make some videos of the last couple of week’s preparation before our assault on Dubai to give you a closer insight as to what happens behind the scenes when we are preparing horses to run abroad.
As you may know, we will be moving up to Egerton House Stables in the New Year. This is a move that are all excited about and very much looking forward to. It has the perfect combination of being in a peaceful, picturesque location but also being close enough to benefit from all the facilities Newmarket heath has to offer.
