GOOD AGAIN AIMS TO REPEAT ASCOT VICTORY
08/05/2009
Here is the update on last weekend’s runners, beginning with our two runners at Lingfield on Friday afternoon. BEAUCHAMP VICEROY came up against some tough opposition in his race and could only finish sixth behind LADY JANE DIGBY. JUST LIKE SILK finished fourth behind FORTUNI trained by Sir Mark Prescott. It was a disappointing performance and we are puzzled by his lack of spark, but hopefully a return to the turf should reignite his form.
GOOD AGAIN certainly caught the eye in the paddock at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon. However she found herself up against some stiff opposition in this one mile handicap. The race was ran at a steady pace and GOOD AGAIN failed to settle in the early stages and although making her challenge one furlong out, the eventual winner PHOTOGRAPHIC from the inform Barry Hills yard proved too strong on this occasion.
PACHATTACK made her return to the track at Newmarket on Sunday in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes. This was her first attempt at the trip and she ran alone on the stands side. Unfortunately she was never able to challenge and the race was fought out between the eventual winner TAKE THE HINT and THREE MOONS. However PACHATTACK has come out of the race well and has been entered to run at York in the Musidora Stakes (Group 3) on Wednesday afternoon.
JAGGER made the long journey down to Salisbury on Sunday afternoon. He led throughout most of the race, but weakened three furlongs from home and was eased.
During the week BEAUCHAMP XERXES ran at Chester in a hotly contended maiden. XERXES was held up under Eddie Ahern and looked to challenge a furlong out, but was unable to get a run on this tight track and finished fourth behind Derby entrant HARBINGER. However he continues to show much promise on the track and I believe we have a lot to look forward to with him.
This evening AGENTE PARMIGIANO and JUST MUSTARD race north of the border at Hamilton Park. AGENTE PARMIGIANO runs in a conditions race at 6:45 over six furlongs. He has been successful in the past over this trip and Paul Hanagan takes over in the saddle tonight. JUST MUSTARD is dropped in trip and runs over six furlongs for the first time in the maiden at 8.20. Tom Eaves is in the saddle and we are hopeful of a good run from both horses this evening.
GOOD AGAIN is back in action tomorrow at Ascot in a fillies’ heritage handicap over a mile, a race we won last year with BAHARAH. Eddie Ahern is in the saddle and has been drawn in stall 2 of 13 runners. It is an interesting race with the progressive SUPAVERDI a recent winner at Bath set to head the market, SECRET NIGHT has also been in good form as has TRUMPET LILY who hopes to capitalise on her win at Windsor last month. Hopefully GOOD AGAIN will show no ill effects from her run at Newmarket last week and we are hopeful of a good run on a track she likes.
We head back up north on Saturday evening, with MONETARY FUND running at Thirsk in a maiden over a mile at 8.10. Paul Hanagan takes the ride and has been drawn in stall 12 of 12 runners. MONETARY FUND has shown a lot of promise and is set to head the market here, with RUSSIAN GEORGE his main competition.
Over the next week we have an entry at Yarmouth on Monday for AGENTE ROMANO. He is also entered at Lingfield on Tuesday along with ELLIPTICAL and JADALEE. As previously mentioned PACHATTACK is entered in the Musidora at York on Wednesday. We have no entries on Thursday.
