Glorious Goodwood

02/08/2005

To say the least our week at Glorious Goodwood proved quite frustrating.

I thought that JACK SULLIVAN ran very well, definitely the best race on turf and right up to par which his form in Dubai.

I was also pleased with NAYYIR, who, without the interference a furlong and a half out, would have confirmed his form with Soviet Song of last year.

We adopted different tactics with JAGGER and I was pleased with the way he settled into that new role.   Whether or not we do this again will depend on the opposition.   The aim is to go for the Ebor at York.

Leading on to this week, I think we will be introducing one of our nicer 2 year olds in SHAMILA when, all being well, she will run at Haydock on Saturday. I hope she will put up a good performance but no doubt she will improve for the experience.

We have entered quite a few horses for racing this week, one of which is EL REY DEL MAMBO entered at Haydock on Thursday.   However, I will probably wait for a week when there is a suitable race at Salisbury.   We are just picking and choosing our race for BLUE AZURE and whether she gets a run on turf or dirt could depend on the ballot at Lingfield.   LOOKS COULD KILL, who was quite disappointing at Goodwood, is entered on Friday at Newmarket.   But, as the handicapper has dropped him 3lb, I might wait with him for a race at Redcar on Sunday where he would run off his new mark.
