Flying Start

We couldn’t be happier with our start to this year’s flat season.
Beauchamp Viceroy done us proud last Saturday when he pulled it out of the bag to win a class 2 handicap by half a length at 20-1. We were thrilled to see him running so well after his return from Dubai and the change in climate obviously hasn’t bothered him!
On Wednesday evening we had Mount Hadley and Dubai Bounty running at Kempton.
We were very pleased with how they both ran, in particular Dubai Bounty. She seems to be ticking all the right boxes, and her progression over the winter was quite clear when she ran a fast finishing third in her handicap debut. She came out of the race in great shape and all being well, will head back to Wolverhampton on the 24th April. We are very much looking forward to seeing how her career maps out this season and we have high hopes for her.
Mount Hadley travelled well in behind a slow pace but the step up in trip did not suit him. We were however, pleased with his efforts and will find a race over a shorter distance for him in due course. He seemed quite pleased with himself at exercise this morning so I’m sure it won’t be long before he makes another appearance.
This evening we have Trojan Reef having his 2nd try in a bumper at Kempton. After running as well as he did first time out over the same trip, we would be hopeful of another good run from him. He has been training well at home and is heading into this evenings race in tip top shape.
Tomorrow sees the return of Tinaar to the track. We are all so very excited about this filly as she showed us so much potential last year. She has blossomed before our very eyes over the last month after coming back into training from a well earned couple of months rest in the field and we can’t wait to see her make her reappearance this year. She looks fantastic in her coat and has been fresh and well at home so I am sure tomorrow will be the start of another year’s progression for her.
Next week also sees the highly anticipated return of Maristar and Swiss cross. Both of these 3 year olds made excellent starts to their racing careers last year and have done amazingly well over the winter. Both have grown and strengthened physically and have their minds set on the task in hand.
Swiss Cross along with Pachattack will be flying the flag for us at this year’s Craven meeting here at Newmarket. Both horses have been working alongside the Rowley Mile track in their preparations for next week’s challenges and I could not be happier with where they are at this stage of their training program.
Stef and Stelio and Beauchamp Wizard round up next week’s entries as it stands today.
Stef and Stelio was gelded over the winter so we are hopeful of a more concentrated performance from him next week, and it will be very interesting to see how Beauchamp Wizard runs after being off the track for just over 6 months. He has been training well and is in great shape at home so I wouldn’t be surprised to him start this year of well.
We are re-arranging the owner’s day to the first weekend in May, over the Guineas meeting.
So keep a space in your diaries and we will be in touch with the details very shortly.
