Elliptical in great shape ahead of the Dubai Duty Free
17/09/2010
We were very pleased with Beauchamp Viceroy’s efforts at Wolverhampton last night where he finished a very creditable 3rd. We are sure the race would have benefited him greatly and will now be scouting the calendar for his next challenge.
Elliptical’s preparations are on track for the Dubai Duty free handicap at Newbury on Saturday. He is very fresh and well in himself and looks to be in good form. We are under no illusions that this is one of the most competitive handicaps of the year, but we are going there in very good shape and are quietly confident of our chances. Dane O’Neil has the benefit of having ridden him before which can only be an advantage.
Also on Saturday, we are in for a busy day here at Head Quarters, with a team of 4 making their way over the road to the Rowley Mile.
Swiss Cross will be heading the runners after running a much more creditable 3rd last weekend. We know he likes this track as he won smartly here almost this time last year, so let’s hope he can apply to the track what we see at home.
Akhmatova is following up her latest efforts when finishing 2nd to David Lanigan’s very impressive filly, Sparkling Smile at Lingfield a few weeks ago.
Our 2nd two year runner of the year will be lining up in the Tattersalls Auction race. It is his first time out, so we will have to allow for the inevitable greenness. Having said that, he has been very straight forward to train at home and has been going well enough to take his chance.
Rounding up proceedings will be Quarante Deux who is taking on 7 others to win the class 4 claiming race.
So, a busy weekend to look forward to, let’s hope for some luck!
