Distinctive Image set to put last run behind him
04/02/2011
Last week was a fairly frustrating one here at Egerton House Stables.
Full Bloom did not run as well as we had hoped for. Perhaps we went back too quickly with her after her debut race. She started off the race well and it looked liked things were going in the right direction however she appeared to be a little bit reserved in the final couple of furlongs and didn’t run on as strongly as she did first time out. Still no damage has been done and she is particularly fresh and well at home so we will see how she is in a couple of weeks and then we can think about making our next move.
Good Again was on the top of her game on Saturday. Unfortunately her path was blocked in every direction she went and she passed the line on the bridle and still travelling! The silver lining on that dark cloud is that we now know she is back on her “A game” and she has been training at home as if the race had been a piece of work for her. We will be running her over 1m2f again on the 12th Feb and we will be hoping that no-one gets in her way this time!
Distinctive Image is on a resurrection mission tomorrow at Lingfield. He has certainly freshened up well since his last run and he is doing everything right at home. The race is over 1m4f tomorrow which is a step up in distance from his last run. We think this will benefit him and are pretty sure his running shoes are on for tomorrow.
Next week is looking a bit quiet on the runners’ front with Good Again being our only planned runner at the moment. Away from the racing however we are very busy behind the scenes with all the preparations getting underway for the season. The youngsters work is now beginning to build up slowly but surely and there are a handful of horses that have recently come back into training after their breaks in the paddock. So plenty to keep us busy and hopefully Distinctive Image will get us onto the score board for 2011 tomorrow.
