DANSANT AIMS FOR GROUP SUCCESS

14/08/2009

Last weekend ended on a high note with TINAAR winning her maiden in style over one mile two furlongs at Windsor on Sunday. The Giant’s Causeway filly, was held in midfield by Dane O’Neill making progress two furlongs from home and led inside the final furlong, winning by one and a half lengths from the favourite HERITAGE COAST.

Following on from this success, we sent three runners to Southwell on Monday afternoon. MONETARY FUND was having his first outing on the all weather in a one mile three furlong maiden. Under Shane Kelly, MONETARY FUND tracked the leader and eventual winner OTTOMAN EMPIRE throughout the race, but unfortunately lost second place near the line and we had to be satisfied with third and have considered that maybe he didn’t stay.

On the same card STEF AND STELIO has his third outing in a six furlong maiden auction race. Partnered by Shane Kelly he chased the early leaders from an outside draw, before making headway one furlong from home and led until victory was snatched away in the dying strides. However STEF AND STELIO seems to understand his role on the track now and will be in the winner’s enclosure in the near future.

Our last runner at Southwell was JADALEE, running in a 0-90 handicap over one mile four furlongs. JADALEE was slowly away and lost his chance in the early stages of the race, he was never able to get on terms with the leaders and finishing unplaced.

Our attention then turned to Windsor on Monday evening, with MOUNT HADLEY running in a one mile, 0-85 handicap. Partnered by Alan Munro, MOUNT HADLEY chased the leaders throughout, but weakened and was unable to challenge finishing unplaced.

Our luck at Windsor changed with BEAUCHAMP XERXES back in action in a one mile maiden race, partnered by Richard Hughes. Making all BEAUCHAMP XERXES took control of the race and despite appearing not to handle the tight track at Windsor stayed on strongly to win comfortably by two lengths.

With no runners during the week we await DANEHILL INTELLECTS debut at Kempton on Friday evening in a seven furlong maiden for two year old fillies. Adam Kirby has taken the ride and has been drawn in stall one of 14 runners.

We have a busy day on Saturday with three runners at Newbury. We are very much looking forward to DANSANT as he takes on eight rivals in the  Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes over one mile five furlongs. DANSANT has been in great form and will improve again from his Hardwicke run with the step up in trip.

BEAUCHAMP VICEROY is also in action at Newbury in a seven furlong, 0-95 handicap. Eddie Ahern is in the saddle, this will be his first run since his prolific win at Wolverhampton last month.

Our final runner at Newbury is JUST LIKE SILK in a one mile four furlong 0-80 handicap for Lady Amateur riders. Serena Brotherton takes the ride and we hope that JUST LIKE SILK regains the form shown earlier this summer prior to his disappointing run at Newmarket last month and shows us the potential we believe him to have.

We also have a debutant in action at Newmarket in the six furlong maiden, SALADIN’S VOW who will be partnered by Jim Crowley. He was purchased from the Breeze Up Sales and has been training forwardly and hopefully will run well.

On Sunday we have entered ELLIPTICAL at Pontefract in a one mile 0-90 handicap and we will decide on Friday whether he takes his chance.
