Craven meeting gets under way
14/04/2009
The season is finally getting underway and we have a busy week with runners at Newmarket on Wednesday and Thursday and entries at Kempton Friday and a full day at Lingfield on Sunday.
We have two runners on the first day of the Craven Meeting, MONETARY FUND in the 1.50 a maiden for three year olds over one mile two furlongs. Eddie Ahern is in the saddle and has been drawn in stall 9 of 13 runners.
JUST MUSTARD returns to Newmarket after his seasonal debut at Lingfield on the all-weather last month. He is back in trip to seven furlongs and we hope he can recreate the form shown over this course and distance last October. Tom Queally has been booked to ride and has been drawn in stall 16 of 16 runners.
On Thursday we have one runner at Newmarket, BEAUCHAMP XERXES a full brother to BEAUCHAMP VICEROY in the Wood Ditton a maiden for unraced three year olds. Eddie Ahern is in the saddle and has been drawn 12 of 12 runners.
PLATOCHE has been entered at Kempton on Friday evening, but this handicap has attracted a large field, so we may have to find another opportunity for him.
On Sunday we have five entries at Lingfield, with entries for PLATOCHE and MONETARY FUND. MOUNT HADLEY is entered in a handicap over one mile two furlongs, for horses rated 66-80. GOOD AGAIN is entered in a mile handicap for fillies and mares rated 71-85. JAGGER is entered in a handicap over two miles, for horses rated 76-95.
