California Dreaming
06/03/2009
It is set to be a very exciting weekend for Gerard Butler Racing as we attempt a Trans-Atlantic double as DANSANT competes in the Santa Anita Handicap on Saturday evening and BONUS in Listed action at Wolverhampton on Saturday afternoon.
DANSANT runs in the Santa Anita Handicap in the early hours of Sunday morning. The Santa Anita Handicap will be one of three Grade 1 stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday. The $1 million race should be a competitive affair, but taking into consideration DANSANTS form on the all-weather in the UK it should be interesting how he fares among the top American horses. He is ranked an outsider in the 14 runner field. COLONEL JOHN the winner of the Travers Stakes and Santa Anita Derby last year is set to be favourite, but it is a very open race with many horses not having run on the synthetic surface before.
Gerard has reported DANSANT to be very relaxed and well coming into the race, so we are hoping for a big run and wish all the team out in California the best of luck.
Away from the glitz and glamour of Santa Anita, BONUS heads to Wolverhampton for the Lady Wulfruna Stakes, a Listed race over seven furlongs. Nicky Mackay returns to the saddle due to the injury Hayley Turner sustained midweek. Nicky has been successful on BONUS in the past and they have been drawn in stall 4 of 8 runners. It is a competitive race with BONUS taking on AEROPLANE, AL MUHEER, CEREMONIAL JADE and BECKERMET. BONUS has been very well and we are hopeful of a good run.
