BONUS steps up
13/02/2009
We had mixed fortunes on the track this week, with DANSANT running in the Winter Open a Listed race at Lingfield on Tuesday afternoon, the fixture having been moved from Wolverhampton. With only three runners, it proved to be a tactical race. George Baker was onboard for the first and dare I say it, the last time and finished second behind front runner SUITS ME and Mickey Fenton. We will move on from the race – worse things happen at sea... DANSANT has come out of the race well and is still on target for the Santa Anita Handicap next month. He is scheduled to do a racecourse gallop on or around the 19/20th February.
Gerard was relatively happy with BONUS on Sunday. He was relaxed and travelled throughout the race, moving particularly well. He had it too easy in the latter part of the race and saw too much daylight and flattened out. Gerard is still not sure if he got the mile but he has a second chance on the 21st February in a Conditions race at Lingfield. This may give us a better indication of whether he is suited to this distance and we are all looking forward to next weekend.
The latest report from Dubai is that BAHARAH is comfortable after her operation; she is confined to her box but seems to be in good spirits. She is due to fly home on March 10th.
