BONUS & DANSANT IN ACTION

We have been braving arctic conditions throughout the week in Newmarket and all the team at Cadland have been battling the elements to ensure the daily routine is not interrupted by the weather. With heavy snowfall again this morning it has been hard work for all the riders and yard workers, who have been working in the snow and freezing conditions.
Unfortunately the snow did prevent DANSANT from participating in his prep race for the Santa Anita Handicap at Wolverhampton on Thursday evening. The fixture originally scheduled for Great Leighs was switched to Wolverhampton, but the freezing conditions caused the meeting to be abandoned. Thankfully the BHA has come to the rescue and the race has been moved to Lingfield on Tuesday, to be run over 1m2f. DANSANT is a twice course and distance winner at Lingfield, which is always a help. We are in the process of booking George Baker as Dane O’Neill is suspended; this seems to be a common trend for jockeys riding on the all-weather this winter. DANSANT is due to fly out to California on Wednesday 25 February from Glasgow Prestwick to Los Angeles.
BONUS has been declared to run at Kempton on Sunday in the Listed Ladybird Stakes over a mile. We have booked the services of Chris Catlin who is challenging for the all-weather championship, as Hayley Turner is suspended, I am sure he will be a more than able substitute. Kempton seems to favour BONUS and hopefully the extra furlong should make the difference to his recent performances, where he has been hitting a lull two furlongs from home and then finishing with a late burst. With the snow expected to clear this evening, we do not expect there to be any problems with this meeting going ahead.
I am pleased to give you an update on BAHARAH’s well being. She was operated on yesterday by a team of surgeons at Dubai Veterinary Clinic. They seem to be quite happy with the way things went. Now she is in recovery period and they hope to move her back to the International Stables in 5-6 days time.
