BEAUCHAMP TRUMP

29/09/2005

I was quite disappointed with NAYYIR's performance at Goodwood.   Thankfully BEAUCHAMP TRUMP gave us some reason to smile when winning on the same card.   I am not sure why Nayyir is no longer showing his characteristic speed over 7 furlongs but both Keiran McEvoy and Ryan Moore suggested we step him up in trip.   We will see how he is over the next few weeks and decide what to do with him then.

The rest of the team all seem to be in good form.   We are putting together our plans for JACK SULLIVAN to go to Belmont for the Breeders Cup Classic.   He worked last week at Lingfield where Darryll Holland rode him. He worked the last half mile in 48.2 seconds.   Both Darryll and myself were pleased with the way he went and all being well he will have his last piece of racecourse work on October 9th or 10th.

We are intending to run SHAMILA this weekend at Newmarket.   She will most likely run in the 6 furlong fillies maiden but she is also entered in the Oh So Sharp Stakes.   I will make up my mind when I have to!

MALAKIYA is due to run on Monday at Windsor.   He is a horse we like a lot but I am sure he will improve for racecourse experience and he will grow into a nice 3 year old.

The last few weeks have been busy at the Yearling Sales in Keeneland, Italy and Goffs in Ireland.   We managed to pick up 2 yearlings from Keeneland, nothing in Italy and 3 yearlings from Goffs.   We will head to Tattersalls at Newmarket next week where we will be very busy sorting out next year's winners!

Once again we will be putting together a few partnerships.   They seem to be a very successful way of getting involved in some well bred horses without huge expense.   We run the partnerships on a commercial basis, culling horses that fail to live up to their potential, but never losing sight of the reason for being - the excitement of seeing your horse on the racecourse and the fantastic feeling of owning a winner!
