A Week For The Girls
We have a very exciting week ahead of us here at Egerton House Stables.
Tinaar will be getting the ball rolling at Haydock today where she will be taking on 11 others, one being her next door neighbour, Barshiba, in the Lancashire Oaks. This is a race we have had in mind for her since her impressive win at Newmarket on Guinea’s day. We couldn’t ask any more of her at home, and she has not put a foot wrong since that day. The trip and the track will suit her perfectly and we believe her to have the class to win a race of this calibre.
Rounding up events today will be Macanta, who will be making her 7th attempt at getting off the mark. We thought she was a little unlucky in running last time so are really hoping she gets a trip to the winners enclosure today.
Next week our attentions turn to Good Again who will be heading north to Pontefract in a bid to land a listed event there. She has been training very well, and although there are more than a few very respected other fillies in the race, we are, as ever, hopeful of a good run from her.
Wednesday may be our biggest day of the season so far as Lahaleeb will be making her debut for us in the Falmouth stakes at Newmarket. This year’s race seems a particularly strong one, however, we have had this race in mind for a while and she has been trained accordingly. William Buick will be renewing his partnership with her for the first time since winning the E.P Taylor on her at Woodbine last year, so obviously we are thrilled to have a jockey who knows her and can get the best from her. The ground is a slight concern, but Michael Prosser has assured me that he will be doing his upmost best to keep the ground on the good side, so we will leave it in his capable hands.
Rounding of events will be Sing Sweetly who may take her chance in a very valuable maiden also at Newmarket on Wednesday. We are not 100% sure yet if she will go but she has been working very smartly this week so will make our decision nearer the time.
