A Quiet Few Weeks

01/10/2011

We have been quietly ticking over here over the last couple of weeks. Runners have been few and far between with our only runner being Dubai Bounty at Kempton on Wednesday. It was her first run back after a fairly long layoff and after breaking well from the stalls and travelling very sweetly throughout the race she unfortunately stopped fairly abruptly around the 3 furlong pole. Her jockey Steve Drowne reported that she had appeared to of swallowed her tongue and made a very loud noise during the race so he done the right thing and let her come home in the own time. As horses grow and mature, it is not unusual for issues to appear along the way. Luckily for us there are a few things we can try to help her with this small hiccup and once she is back rolling along again, we may try her with a tongue tie.

Our next runners in the UK are Full Bloom and Prince Alzain who both run on Monday.
Full Bloom is off to Shakespeare’s county to race in the 1m 0-75 handicap at Warwick. She will have her cheek pieces in place and Cathy Gannon on board who has done really well this year and rode her 70th winner of 2011 the other day.
Prince Alzain if off to see the Queen at Windsor. After the almighty effort he put into his debut run at Kempton he has been very impressive at home and ticking over nicely. We think he may go very well on the turf and he has Seb Sanders on board.

Next weekend Pachattack and Maristar are taking centre stage in the states where they both are running in stakes races.
Pachattack will line up in the “Juddmonte Spinster Stakes” a Grade 1 race for fillies and mares over 1m2f with a total prize fund of $500,000. This race is one of the highlights of the Keenland fall meeting and we are very excited about Pachattack’s chances in such a valuable and prestigious race.
Back at Chicago, Maristar is taking her place in the Grade 2 “Hawthorn Gold Cup” ran at Hawthorn racecourse over 1m2f and also worth $500,000. It is one thing to have a runner in a graded race but to have two that both have great chances is unbelievable. Both horses have been training really well at home and as I have said so many times before, they have really taken to the American way of life
