A Busy Weekend
13/08/2010
We have a very exciting weekend ahead of us here at Egerton House Stables.
Yesterday evening, Dansant began his journey to Deauville where he arrived safe and sound this morning.
On Saturday, he will take his place in the 1 mile 4 furlong conditions race on the all weather surface against 8 other participants. In a similar fashion to the Shergar Cup meeting, the jockeys were selected at random and we could not have been more thrilled as Dansant was coupled with Olivier Peslier.
We are hoping for a good run from him tomorrow, but obvious allowances will be made considering he has been of the track for a year. However, he has been training well, moving well, and looks a million dollars.
Speaking of dollars, Pachattack left this morning for Chicago where she will run in the Beverly D at Alrington Park on the 21st August.
We feel she deserves to take her chance in this race following her back to back listed wins recently. The conditions will suit her there and she seems to have improved and grown in confidence after each of her races this year so why not let her take this chance.
Beauchamp Xerxes will be heading north tomorrow to run in blinkers for the first time in a 7 furlong class 2 handicap. He is running consistently well, and is more capable of adding a few more wins to his tally. We hope that the blinkers will inject the extra speed needed for 7 furlongs and it is a family trait as Beauchamp Viceroy (his full brother) ran and won his best races wearing them. Hayley Turner will be doing the steering so we hope for another good run.
Also heading north is Akhmatova who runs at Ripon in a class 4 fillies handicap. This is probably the improving filly we have seen this year and she has been in great form at home. There is a small field of 7 runners however, there are 1 or 2 who are also in good shape with some good form to back them up. We are confident our filly has the ability to run well, so let’s hope for a smooth run round.
At the other end of the country, Stef & Stelio will be lining up in a claimer over 1 mile at Lingfield.
He can sometimes prove to be a little frustrating as he does not seem to apply his homework to the track, but we are sure one day soon, he will return to the winners enclosure.
As the week draws to a close, Good Again will be heading South West to Bath to line up in a listed event. She is more than capable of winning a race of this calibre and after putting in a good performance at Ascot recently we think she is in good enough form to run a promising race.
Next week brings York and the Ebor Festival. We could possibly have a handful of runners heading there. Elliptical and Sing Sweetly are looking like possible candidates, but we will let you know closer to the time.
