A big weekend

08/10/2011

Maristar and Pachattack are all set to run in their graded races this weekend.
Maristar has been training well on the dirt all week and is currently a 20-1 shot in the Hawthorn Gold Cup. We think this is a very big price for her and she will run a lot better than her price might suggest. She has been extremely progressive since she has been in the USA and her last run clearly shows she is capable of winning a graded race. Today could well be her day. The race is due off at 5:46pm USA time which is 11:46pm here and will be shown on At The Races channel 415 on sky.
Pachattack’s race, the Juddmonte Spinster will also be shown on ATR and a UK time of 11:45pm on Sunday the 9th October. She has 12 other rivals to beat and is currently joint second favourite at 5-1. This price is just right for her after her remarkable run in a Grade 1 on her last start. She has taken to the poly track at Keenland and it seems to be a faster surface then the Arlington track and she seems to be enjoying it better. Both fillies have massive chances this weekend.

Here in HQ Red Anthem lines up in the cavalry charge that is the Cesarewitch.  Being drawn 5 is ideal and hopefully he can jump out and stay on the inside as long as possible. He is going off as one of the many outsiders in the race but we think he may have been overlooked slightly. He has run some nice races in France and is crying out for a trip. The ground here has gone to good now which is a help to us. He is running off a light weight and these races can often be a lottery. You have to be “In it to win it!”
