2nd Chance for Sole Bonne Femme

04/03/2011

We were very pleased with Beauchamp Viceroys run last weekend. We think he may have just been caught for speed in the final furlong of the race. He has come out of the race fresh and well and we are sticking to the original plan of running him on the 12th of March in either the “Lady Wilfruna” or the Lincoln trial at Wolverhampton. He went for a spin up the long hill canter this morning and we was very pleased with the way that he went so everything is in place so far for the 12th.

Sole Bonne Femme has been declared to run on Sunday at Huntingdon. Our only jump horse didn’t run up to standard in bottomless ground last time out so we have been biding our time for better ground. He had his final schooling session before his race yesterday. Charlie Wallis came up to ride him and was particularly pleased with how he was jumping.  There are 12 other runners in the race and it looks like an ideal spot for him on Sunday.

Our only current entry for next week is Prince Apollo. This will be his first run for us after starting his career in France and then moving to the Ian Williams in the UK. He has been quite a nervous horse at home and he has been spending a few hours a day in the paddock to keep him relaxed. We will learn a lot more about him if he runs next week with regards to trip and race tactics.

Pachattack and Maristar are set to make their way down the M25 to Lingfield for a racecourse gallop in the morning. This will be hugely beneficial to their fitness and will give us an accurate guide as to how well they are doing in their training programs.  Both fillies look to be in great shape and we couldn’t be any more pleased with them at home so let’s hope they gallop well tomorrow.

Earlier in the week we made a very exciting entry for Burj Alzain. He was entered into the 2000 Guineas here at Newmarket and the 2000 Guineas in Cologne, Germany.  This horse has done nothing but impress and improve since he started his racing career and it’s a massive thrill for all involved to have a horse entered into one of the most infamous races of all time!
